Milan is home to the most famous Italian fashion brands and the most important and expensive shops are located in the city center, in the so-called “quadrilatero della moda”, a fashion district covering the area of via Montenapoleone, via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia. This is the most elegant area to shop, but also the most expensive.
However, do not worry: this fashionable city has something for everyone. There are not only the magnificent boutiques in the fashion district, but also the famous shoe-shops in via Torino, the shop-windows in corso Buenos Aires and corso Vercelli, the small showrooms in Brera and international fashion chains such as Mango, Zara and H&M. If you love vintage, then in Milan you will find unique pieces from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s: in the Navigli area, you will discover many second-hand shops, which remain open untill late in the summer. Also, on the last Sunday of every month, along Naviglio Grande and the adjacent areas there is the antiques market, where you can buy gifts, accessories, jewelry, clothing and of course, shoes, all absolutely “original old style”.
Other famous markets are those in viale Papiniano (two metro stops from the school) and in via San Marco (near the metro's green line Moscova stop): at the former, you can find quality shoes, clothes and home accessories at a bargain price, in the latter you will find stalls selling top-quality designers’ brands at discounted stock prices!
